When I came to my first ever Butlins 70s weekend  I must admit I was excited.  To be able to listen to all the old tunes and see live bands playing those memories I couldn’t help but not be.

What I wasn’t prepared for was the sheer scope of it all, huge ballrooms filled with people garbed up in all the outrageous fashions of the decade. All dancing and singing to all the old tunes.It was a truly stunning moment in my life and the smile plastered on my face stayed there for the whole weekend. It was an eye opener for sure, everyone was there for one purpose and that was to have fun., which, for me, is what the 70s was all about.

Since that first time my Glamsters and I haven’t missed a trip and now it’s become a major part of the year for our forum members. There’s also other groups who we see every time we go and a special mention must go to the Alton Glamsters who make the most fantastic costumes every year and every year they amaze me with their new outfits. You’ll see what I mean when you check out the pics.

It is simply the best, craziest fancy dress party in the world.
